He's a world renown shoe designer and Christian Louboutin is adored globally by many women for his often outrageously high shoe designs but in a recent interview by Net-a-Porter at London's Victoria & Albert Museum he revealed that he thinks the most flattering of shoes is the basic high-heeled pump (court shoe).

Despite being the designer of many an elaborate design, the classic style of the court shoe still holds that extra-special quality for Louboutin, suggesting it is the most flattering item of footwear for a woman's foot.

He explained, “It's like a beautiful face with no make-up. You can cover up a not-so-beautiful face with make-up, but it is just a mask – it is the same with shoes.”

He also went on to discuss the idea of toe cleavage, and whilst it doesn't sound the most seductive of qualities, he suggests that those court shoes with a low cut front are very complimentary. “It makes the leg look longer...It was something I discovered when I worked with showgirls at the start of my career – they always had shoes cut in that way. They wanted to be able to dance and to look like they had really long legs.

“If you have a low décolleté it opens the leg window.”

Thus, it appears that the most classic of designs are in fact the most elegant, giving you a flattering extension of your legs.
